6/27は学習院の問題でした。
筆者がイタリア語を身につける過程を書いた文章です。

下線部の意味を尋ねる問題が多かったですね。
下線部(1)の"be acquainted with ～"は有名です。知っていた方がいいと思います。
下線部(3)の"situation of the former kind"の問題は、どこが前者(the former)でどこが後者(the latter)なのかを見極めてください。

下線部(6)は"the opportunity to learn (6)these specific details about my background"という箇所と、
"wished to find out the circumstances ～, the history ～, and information ～."

つまり、「学ぶ機会(the opportunity to learn)」と「知りたい(wished to find out)」という表現が合致していますよね？

和訳も構造は平易でしたね。
