2015/09/12授業分解答のポイント！

今回は授業内演習でした。
下線部和訳1問と文法問題が2問の計3問。

(a)の下線部和訳は...
The fascination with the Information Technology revolution, represented by the internet, has made some rich countries wrongly conclude that making things is so ‘yesterday’ that they should try to live on ideas.

もちろん構文分析をします。"The fascination"がSで、"represented by the internet"は挿入、"has made"がV、"some rich countries"がO、"conclude"が原形不定詞でCです。つまり使役動詞の形ですね。concludeのとるOが"that making things is so ‘yesterday’ that they should try to live on ideas."で、that節内がso ～ that構文になっています。

でも、この英文の文構造がわかっただけでは、きちんとした和訳ができないと思います。
授業中でもお話ししたように、下線部以外の箇所からヒントを得ていかないと、完成しません。
下線部前後の、

think wrongly(l.01)
↓
this distortion of perspectives(l.05)
↓
these distorted perspectives(l.06)
↓
wrongly conclude(l.08)
↓
improperly neglect(l.10)

という流れを追ってください。あとはさらに読み進めるとどんどん具体化するので、何が「間違った考え方(think wrongly)」なのか、何を「不適切にも無視(improperly neglect)」してしまっているのかがわかったと思います。

英文の中で同意表現や反意語を探して和訳に反映させていきましょう！

文法の方は、語彙に関する問題です。派生語などを考えさせる面白い問題だったので、復習を徹底してください！
